Wyo Balloon Company Owner Blames Crashes On Freak Storm

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) -The owner of a Wyoming sightseeing balloon company who had 3 balloons crash Monday near Jackson Hole, injuring more than a dozen people, says a strong downdraft during a freak storm is to blame.

Wyoming Balloon Company owner Andrew Breffeilh says he’s sad and regrets that clients were injured, but emphasizes that the forecast for Jackson Hole didn’t include any dangerous conditions.

Monday’s crashes sent 11 people to hospitals, all but one for treatment of minor lacerations and orthopedic-type injuries to wrists, shoulders and ankles. The other person went to a hospital in Idaho with a head injury.
