The Wyoming House Corporations Committee has advanced a bill requiring voters to present identification at the polls despite questions on whether it’s necessary.
No one who testified and no committee members said voter fraud is a problem in Wyoming. Rather, they said the bill is needed to prevent any future problems and boost confidence in elections.
Opponents counter that the bill promotes a false narrative that elections aren’t secure.
The bill passed on a 6-3 vote and with almost two-thirds of the entire Legislature signed on as co-sponsors, its passage is virtually assured.
