Wyo Legislature To Consider Expanding Focus Of Pari-Mutual Commision

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) – The Wyoming Legislature’s Joint Committee on Travel, Recreation, and Cultural Resources has overwhelmingly sent to the 4-week budget session opening Monday a bill to revamp the state Pari-Mutual Commission and give it the power to regulate all for-profit gambling.

The commission currently oversees only horse racing while the expanded version would regulate everything from games of skill to bingo halls.

Nonprofit organizations such as the Boy Scouts or National Rifle Association that rely on games like bingo to raise money would be excluded from commission oversight, but would still have to report gambling proceeds to the state.
