Chadron Juniors Split First Day in Spearfish

The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors opened up the Spearfish Tournament with a doubleheader, losing to Rapid City Post 320 10-4, before turning around and beating Sheridan, Wyoming 19-7.

In the first game of the day against Rapid City Post 320, Chadron took off to an early two run lead in the first inning, scoring off two RBI singles. It took a few innings but in the bottom of the fifth Post 320 flipped the game on its head, posting a crooked number to clear Chadron by a 7-3 score at the time. Chadron was able to get one back in the top of the sixth before Post 320 topped the game off with three more runs to force a run rule win over Chadron, by a 10-4 score.

Bricen Wright had two hits in the effort for Chadron while Derek Bissonette had a double. 

In the second game of the double dip to open the tournament. Chadron sprinted out to an early lead leading 6-1 after the top of the third inning. Sheridan pushed back close, scoring four in the bottom of the third to make it 6-5. Neither team scored in the fourth but Chadron added four more in the top of the fifth. Sheridan tried to make it close adding two more in the fifth but Chadron ran away winning 19-7. 

Tobin Landen had an incredible day with nine RBI’s in six at bats between the two games, including eight in the second game where he went 3-3.

Braden Wright got the win for Chadron in the second game allowing five runs on five its with four strikeouts, 

Chadron now gears up for an early morning with a game against Belle Fouche set for 8:30 A.M from Spearfish.
