Where Do You Get Your Weather Data?

Our currents conditions information comes from weather equipment located at our studio in Chadron, NE. We use a Davis Vantage Pro2 weather center combined with Weatherview software. The Weatherview software collects information from our weather equipment and uploads the most current information every 10 minutes.

Weather maps are provided by windy.com. Windy collects data from sources all over the world. Additional maps, forecast products and even web cams are available at windy.com.

How Do I Use The Forecast Map?

Click on the name of a city. You can zoom in/out and move the map around. You can also select a rural area. Once you have selected an area on the map a 5 day forecast will appear at the bottom, including predicted temperature, wind and sky conditions. Scroll to the right to see additional days.

How Do I Use The Wind Map?

The wind map includes a marker that shows the wind speed at it’s current location. You can drag the marker around on the map to show wind at any location. The animated arrows show the wind direction . You can also zoom in/out and move the map around.

Pressing the play button will animate the map, showing a future cast of predicted wind speed over the next several days.

How Do I Use The Clouds Map?

The clouds map includes a marker that shows the percentage of cloud cover. You can drag the marker around on the map to show cloud cover at any location. You can also zoom in/out and move the map around.

How Do I Use The Radar Map

The radar map shows rain or snow activity in the area. Clicking on the map will bring up a marker showing the storm intensity (dBZ) at that location. You can drag the marker around on the map to show the current dBZ reading at any location. You can also zoom in/out and move the map around.

Pressing the play button will animate the map, showing storm progress over the past hour.
