Chadron State Annouces 2024 Hall Of Fame Class

Chadron State announced its 2024 athletic Hall of Fame class Wednesday. Headlining the class are five wrestlers along with two football players and two women’s track and field athletes. 

The five wrestlers being inducted into the hall of fame are Brett Hunter, Josh Majerus, Mark Pfeifer, Devlon Webb and Matt Weingart. The five combined for over 400 wins in their careers at Chadron State, along with eight All-American awards, and three national championships. 

Paul Schweger and John Strand are the two football players in the class. Schweger was a four year starting safety out of Longmont Colorado. During his career he made 182 solo tackles and 107 assisted tackles for 299 career tackles. He also had eight interceptions to go along with 19 pass breakups and five forced fumbles. He was first team all-RMAC his junior and senior years. 

Strand out of Imperial was an offensive lineman who helped Danny Woodhead become college football’s all-time leading rusher. He joins his brother Matt in the CSC Hall of Fame. 

Stacey Langemeier Girard and Marry Wells are the women’s track and field athletes in the class. Langemeier Girard out of Alliance, set six middle and long distance records while at CSC, and still owns three of them. 

Wells out of Albion, Nebraska was a top three medal winner six times during her college career. Part of a family that included three other CSC athletes including her CSC Hall of Fame member older sister. Wells was an All-American in discus as a junior and in indoor shot put as a senior.

The class will be inducted following the Chadron State vs Adams State football game in Chadron on October 5th.
