Firefighters continue to battle the four fires across the Nebraska panhandle that were sparked when a group of dry storms pushed through the area Wednesday night.
The Ash Pole Fire burning nine miles southeast of Crawford is sitting at 1,027 acres as of Thursday night. Firefighters attacked the blaze throughout the day Thursday with ground and air resources. Command of the blaze was transferred to the United State Forest Service as of Thursday evening.
The Grizzly Bear Fire just to the east of the Ash Pole has burned 73.2 acres as of Thursday evening.
The Rocky Fire burning just to the southwest of Harrison has seen 6.2 acres burned.
10 miles north of Henry in rural Sioux County the Sandy Fire has reportedly burned 425 acres.
No containment was reported on any of the fires in the Nebraska panhandle as of last night.
Power is still out in the area of Squaw Mound Road and Table Road north of Hough Road with no estimated timetable of power restoration according to the Northwest Rural Public Power District.
Weather for Friday and Saturday looks to stay warm with temperatures in the 80’s with chances of precipitation expected to rise beginning Saturday evening. There is a Red Flag warning in effect until 7pm Friday evening.
