The 155th annual Nebraska State Fair begins its 10 day run this Friday August 23rd at Fonner Park in Grand Island with the 2024 theme โ€œAll Roads Lead to Funโ€.

โ€œWe are so excited for the 155th annual celebration of all things Nebraska that is the State Fair,โ€ said Jaime Parr, Nebraska State Fair Executive Director. โ€œThe entertainment, animals, competitions, vendors and food are all ready for fair guests to enjoy. There is so much fun planned for 2024.โ€

Admission will be free until noon central time on Friday only- after that admission will cost $12 for adults, or $6 for seniors and children when purchased at the gate.

However, with the new โ€œLunch Bunchโ€ program, you can get a free lunch with admission. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, August 28-30, when attendees purchase a $12 or $6 gate admission at the fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., they will receive an equally matched dollar amount food voucher good at any concession stand at the fair.

After admission, guests can look forward to food, vendors, exhibits, entertainment and music including:

  • Tumbleweed Crossing, an award winning comedy wild west gunfight stunt show.
  • World Wonders, showcasing extraordinary acts from daring sword swallowers to mesmerizing fire eaters.
  • And of course, several different concerts over seven days beginning on Sunday August 25th.

Thereโ€™s also bull riding and bullfighting this Friday and Saturday, and the fair concludes with a tractor pull and demolition derby on Sep 1 and 2nd respectively.

โ€œIf you havenโ€™t been to the fair, or you havenโ€™t been in years, we want you to come join us. The addition of shade, seating and misting fans will help to ensure even on the sunniest days, youโ€™re able to enjoy the last taste of summer.โ€ said marketing Director, Courtney Glock.

The Nebraska State Fair has drawn more than 4 million visitors to its home in Grand Island since 2010. More information about agricultural events and competitions, carnival entertainment, and other musical performances is available at statefair.org.
