Loading

The Chadron boys and girls basketball teams both dropped their final Bird Cage games of 2023 on Saturday night as Bridgeport came to town and left with a sweep..

The Chadron girls went back and forth with Bridgeport in the opening quarter, but the Bulldogs flexed their muscle over the final three quarters of an 82-57 win.

The final score was much more positive than it might seem as the Lady Cards scored 13 more points than anyone else so far and were just 1 point away from the smallest margin of victory for Bridgeport, who is 7-0.

Taverra Sayaloune had 14 points to lead the Cardinals while Olivia Loomis-Goltl, who has signed with D-1 Northern Colorado, had 33 for Bridgeport.

The Chadron boys led 47-42 going into the 4th quarter and then Bridgeport opened the quarter on an 8-0 run and outscored the Cards 26-10 in the final eight minutes for a 68-57 win.

Broc Berry and Thomas Smith had 15 points each. Gage Nein had 30 to lead Bridgeport.

Both Chadron teams are on the road Tuesday at Torrington and Thursday at Scottsbluff before heading up the hill to Chadron State College for the Chadron Rotary-George Watson Holiday Tournament on the 29th and 30th.
