A Chadron man has been sentenced to 60 years to life in prison for causing the death of his infant daughter in June of last year.
28-year-old Riley Lenhart had been convicted in October by a jury in Chadron of Intentional Child Abuse Resulting in Death with the jury deliberating for only about 90 minutes after 3 days of testimony.
       The minimum sentence for the charge is 20 years, but Dawes County District Judge Travis O’Gorman told Lenhart he was getting 3 times the minimum because of the serious nature of his crime
       Madilynn Lenhart died June 19, 2022, at the family home while her father was looking after her. He said he’d found her not breathing when he finished taking a shower, but an autopsy listed ligature strangulation as the cause of death.Â
