Funeral services for 43-year old Xavier Long Sr are Monday, June 24, 2024 at 2:00 at the Catches residence near Pine Ridge, SD, with Father Peter Klink, S-J, officiating and traditional Lakota services by Peta Catches
Burial is at the Catches Family Cemetery in the Calico Community of Pine Ridge.
A one-night wake service starts Sunday, June 23, at 10:00 am at the Catches residence near Pine Ridge with rosary services at 7:00 PM.

Xavier Valeriean Long Sr was born on April 7, 1962 in Pine Ridge to Cynthia Catches and Bart (Patricia) Long. Xavier made his journey to the Spirit World on June 13, 2024 at his home in Mission Flats near Pine Ridge.
Xavier attended school in Tulsa, OK. He lived and worked in Salt Lake City, UT, as well as Seattle, WA. He moved home and worked at the Wolf Creek School as a janitor.
Xavier had a passion for working on vehicles and he sundanced in Wambli Gleska Sundance for 4 years.
Xavier loved his grandchildren, nieces, nephews so much and loved to babysit. He liked to take Denny to the store for snacks, and always said it made him feel good and he was happy to see his grandkids, nieces and nephews happy.
Xavier is survived by his father Bart (Patricia) Long; spouse Theresa (Black Horse) Long; daughter Ruthina Slow Bear; sons Nelson S Long and Xavier Long Jr; stepchildren Grace and Gloria Sully and Nancy Cottier; sister Shannon Long; and grandchildren Luis, Omar, Joana, Jaylee, Asia, Amare, Darrent, Aubrey, Persaus, Kaloni, Katie, Lil’ Theresa, Carter Dixon III, Marcia, Mae, Vinny, Vivian, Nelson S Long Jr, and Alyssa Long.
Xavier was preceded in death by his mother Cynthia Catches; son Stetson V Long; brothers Raphael Long, Adrian Long, and Brian Long; aunts Myrna Catches, Christine Catches, Rosemary Long, and Kathy Bianas; grandson Carter D Dixon II; uncles Peter Catches Jr, Paul Catches Sr, Vernon Long-Black Cat, and John Long; nephews Casey Long-Weston and Dietrie Catches; maternal grandparents Amelia Ribsman-Catches and Peter Catches Sr; great-grandparents Dave Long Black Cat, and Tina Bad Heart Bull; cousins Jolton Little, Jenna Long, Wobbles Long, and David Garnier; mother-in-law Nancy Black Horse; and brother-in-law, Sid Black Horse.
Pallbearers will be Xavier Long Jr, Nelson Long, Justice Scott, Mike Weasel Bear, Sheldon Ribsman, Jimmy Elk Boy, Cidney Long Sr, Stan Garnier, and Chase Roy.
