The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 seniors went to a hot and steamy Bridgeport for a doubleheader on Sunday and walked away with a dominating sweep 9-1 and 19-1.
The first game saw the teams feeling each other out with trading solo runs in the first before going scoreless in the second. Chadron was able to put up a crooked number, shoving seven across the plate in the third inning before adding one more in the fourth to pull off the 9-1 win.
Logan Slama had a three run homerun while Davonte Ross added two RBI’s in the win.
Atreyu Thorsen pitched the complete game allowing two hits, one earned run while striking out nine in the win.
The second game saw a continuation of the final couple innings of the first game as Chadron took care of Bridgeport easily by a 19-1 score. Chadron had a 3-1 lead after the first inning and that was the most quiet inning of the game. They added four in the second before batting around putting up a 12 spot in the third to seal the 19-1 win.
Logan Slama went yard again while Davonte Ross had two doubles. Caden Buskirk added two triples and a double along with nine total bases.
Bronson Freeseman pitched a no-hitter for Chadron with one earned run on three walks and striking out three in the win.
The seniors now see their record improve to 6-10 with a matchup with Scottsbluff coming up on Tuesday. The juniors will play at five with the seniors following at seven.
