Funeral services for 41-year old Clarence Janis are Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym in Pine Ridge, SD, with Fathers Brad Held, SJ, and Joe Daoust, SJ, officiating.
Burial is at the Holy Rosary Catholic Mission Cemetery in Pine Ridge, SD
A one-night wake service starts Thurs, June 27, at 1:00 at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym with evening services at 7:00 PM

Clarence Anthony Janis “Akicita Eha’ke” was born on Oct 15, 1982 in Pine Ridge, SD to Charlotte Rae Red Cloud and Robert “Rocky” Janis. Clarence made his journey to the Spirit World on June 14, 2024 in Aurora, CO.
At a beautiful young age, Clarence moved to the city he loved the most, Denver, CO with his beloved mother. He came back to Pine Ridge and lived with his father, whom he loved very much.
When he was in Denver, he became a strong, wise, humble, noble, and dependable young man. Clarence strived for everything big and reached for the stars and always made it work for himself.
Clarence made things happen for himself, once he set his mind to make things happen it was done. That is who our dad was, a very resilient man.
On Christmas day of 1998, Clarence had his first daughter, Angelina with Elthea Lame. They went on to have two more baby girls, Kaitlyn in August 2003 and Keisha in October 2006.
Clarence loved his girls “with all his heart” as he always said. They were his pride and joy in life and he would do anything in his power to make them happy.
Clarence was always smiling and laughing. He liked to tease all his friends and family. We all have good memories that we will cherish forever.
Clarence is survived by his daughters, Angelina Janis, Kaitlyn Janis, and Keisha Janis; siblings, Gina Cordova-Red Cloud, Jonathan (Stefany) Janis, Juanita (Dennis) Navarez, Myrna Rodriguez, Marilyn “Baby Mare” Red Cloud, and Misty Dillon; nieces & nephews, Briseus Janis, Treasure Janis, Memphys Janis, Amerylexa, Hoksila Suta, & Stevehn Jo Hawk, Promise Blacksmith, Mary Jo Little, Robert Little, Jr., Trent Brewer, Mariah Janis, Tylynn Dillon, Steven Shangreau III, Sonya Shangreau, AntiNiah Siquieros, Anthony Siquieros, Drew, and Demitri; and special friend, Tia Dawn Two Bulls.
Clarence was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Red Cloud; father, Robert “Rocky” Janis; grandparents, Myrna Martin, Reno Red Cloud, Guy “Boob” Janis, Catherine “Skite” Goings-Janis, Mary Ellen Red Cloud; brothers, Alec Dillon, Charlie Dillon, Joseph Rodriguez, Anthony Siquieros, Sr., Shelby K. Sun Bear, and Timothy Janis; aunts, Pamela Red Cloud, Maryann Red Cloud, Eileen Janis, and Terri Janis; uncles, Guy “George” Janis and Leon “Chuckles” Janis; niece, Naveigha Red Cloud; nephew, Kole T. Janis; and cousins, Alanie Martin and Mary Ellen Red Cloud.
Pallbearers will be Johnse Donavan, Bennett Hard Heart, Jr., Ryan Lame, James Black Bear, Theodore Lame, Jr., Kyle Brings Plenty, Waylon Janis, Mike Red Cloud, Isaac Santastevan, Jeremy Watters, and Trent Brewer.
