According to their Facebook page, Carhenge has once again put the City of Alliance on the map by being recognized as “Best of the Best” in Tripadvisor’s Traveler’s Choice Awards for 2024.Â
The award is presented to the top 10% of sites around the world on Tripadvisor based on reviews and ratings collected over the course of the year.
Carhenge was sculpted in 1987 by Jim Reinders. It is a car themed replica of England’s Stonehenge located a few miles north of Alliance. It consists of 39 cars arranged in a circle measuring almost 100 feet across.
In 2013, the site of Carhenge was donated to the Citizens of Alliance by the Friends of Carhenge. Jim passed away in his home in Houston back in 2021.
