Urgent Call to Action. Nebraskans Must Prioritize Safe Driving Now

Loading

This morning, the Nebraska Department of Transportation released the June Traffic Fatality Toll, which shows an increase in crashes in Nebraska as compared to last June.  Last week, the Nebraska State Patrol clocked a motorist doing 130 MPH in a 65 MPH work zone.  And earlier in June, an NDOT worker was struck and injured by a motorist in an active work zone.

Our state’s road safety is at stake, and we must all play our part in ensuring the well-being of our fellow Nebraskans. The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is committed to promoting safe driving, but we need your help in spreading this crucial message.

Attached is an Op-Ed written by Vicki Kramer, the Director of the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT), to shed light on this critical issue. In her piece, Director Kramer implores the traveling public to exercise greater caution when traveling.  This piece has been joined by Nebraska State Patrol Colonel John Bulduc, Highway Crime Commission Executive Director Bryan Tuma, and Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles Director, Rhonda Lahm.

We believe that by raising awareness about this issue, we can foster a sense of responsibility among the traveling public and encourage them to prioritize the safety of all those on the roadway.  Together, we can create a culture of care and consideration on our roads, making Nebraska a safer place for everyone.
