The Pleasant Valley Fire, which has been burning about one mile north of Guernsey, WY since July 30th, is now listed as 90% contained. An infrared flight on Sunday gave fire managers a better size up of the fire, which is now sized at 28,984 acres.
According to a release from the Wyoming Type 3 Interagency Incident
Management Team, crews will continue to mop up remaining heat and smoke as well as increase containment. Crews will also start rehabilitation activities, such as pulling hose, building water bars and repairing areas disturbed during fire suppression efforts. The incident will support local departments with any new initial attack fires if requested.
They have also stated that local firefighters are well supplied and donations are no longer needed at this time.
Daily chances of afternoon and evening thunderstorms exist through Wednesday, which could bring gusty and erratic winds. Hot and dry conditions also persist through Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs in the low to mid-90s. A brief period of gusty southerly winds are possible the evening prior to the cold front, which is expected to bring cooler
temperatures with forecasts in the high 60s Thursday and Friday.
