Local Firefighters Fight More Summer Blazes

Loading

Local firefighting resources were sent to various areas of Dawes County this past week to suppress lightning ignited fires.

According to Great Plains Fire, the Stingray Fire was the first to be reported at about 6:30 Sunday evening. It was stopped at 3.8 acres by both federal and county resources.

The next day saw firefighters 11 miles southeast of Crawford to fight the Camino Fire, which burned just over 8 acres at noon on Monday. Both fires are now listed as either controlled or contained, however, with thunderstorms and heavy lightning coming through the area, people are encouraged to report smoke to 911 and be extra cautious considering the fire danger.
