Authorities are searching for a suspect who forcibly tried to open an ATM outside Nebraska Bank at 1320 W. 3rd St. in Alliance at approximately 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
Alliance police says officers, who were aware of similar incidents at ATMs across the Panhandle, located the suspect in a dark navy 2013-2015 Honda Civic with another individual traveling on Kansas Street near Highway 385 at 9:40 a.m.
The vehicle was located abandoned in the J&C RV Park shortly after with no suspects in the immediate area.
Authorities established a perimeter around the area with additional support from the Box Butte Sheriff’s office, Nebraska State Patrol, the Nebraska Game and Parks, the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s office and BNSF.
A tracker dog, drones, and four-wheelers were deployed to search the surrounding fields near Kansas and Highway 385, but the suspect was able to elude capture.
Officers are actively engaging with local businesses to gather any security footage that may provide additional leads. The investigation is ongoing, and police urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Alliance Police Department at 308-762-4955
