Dewey Little Thunder

Dewey Stuart Lawlor Little Thunder, Sr. was born on August 21, 1952 at St. Maryโ€™s Hospital in Pierre, SD to Jacob โ€œJakeโ€ Little Thunder and Caroline Mae Hawk Wing.  Dewey made his journey to the Spirit World on September 14, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD. 

Dewey was a US Army Veteran and enlisted in the Army on June 20, 1972 and was honorably discharged on June 18, 974.ย  Dewey was also teacher’s aide at American Horse School and graduated from Pine Ridge, SD.ย ย 

Dewey is survived by his children, Dewey S.L. Little Thunder, Jr. of Rapid City, SD, Heather Little Thunder (Lorencia) of Martin, SD, Zosar Little Thunder of Martin, SD, and Colleen Jack (Cornell) of Pierre, SD; brother, Blaine Little Thunder of Wanblee, SD; grandchildren, Dora & Eltina Broken Rope, Taeshawn & Damien Little Thunder, Chance, Seth & Cornell โ€œYamniโ€ Ruff, Alyssa Jack, and Janet Little Thunder; great grandchildren, Baby Duane & Dโ€™Angelo, and Denahi Broken Rope, and Mikhailo โ€œMCโ€ Cummings. 

Dewey was preceded in death by his father, Jacob โ€œJakeโ€ Little Thunder; mother, Caroline Mae (Swift Hawk) Hawk Wing; brother, Elton Hawk Wing; uncles, John Little Thunder, Stephen Little Thunder, Gilbert Little Thunder, and Bill Little Thunder; and son-in-law, Alton Broken Rope.

Pallbearers will be Justin Little Thunder, Sr., Jonathan Little Thunder, Chance Ruff, Seth Ruff, Cornell Ruff III, Cornell Ruff, Jr., Ryan Butcher, David Eagle Bear, Wayne Eagle Bear, and Albert Broken Rope.

Honorary pallbearers will be Alice Tools, Avery & Sidney Marshall, Robert Red Shirt, Gus Yellow Hair, Julia Ireland, Carl Broken Rope, Ron Little Thunder & Family, Duane Eagleman, Margie Tools, Karen Little Thunder, Warren-Burnelle Tools, Valentina Janis & Family, Amanda Takes War Bonnett, Virgil Richards, All Little Thunder Family, Ruff Family, Red Willow Family, Jack Family, Swift Hawk Family, Eagle Bear Family, Red Elk Family, Cutt Family, Randall Family, and All Friends & Relatives.

Wake Services:ย  Two night wake service starting at 4:00 PM, Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the TNT Building in Wanblee, SD with evening services starting at 7:00 PM each night and Military Roll Call at 8:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2024 also at the TNT Building.

Funeral Services:ย  2:00 PM, Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the TNT Building in Wanblee, SD
