Chadron Downs Alliance In Softball

The Chadron High School softball team took on Alliance Tuesday afternoon at Hampton Fields. In a game that was moved up due to inclement weather in the evening the Cardinals took down the Bulldogs 17-5 in three innings. 

The Bulldogs were shutout in the top of the first inning by Cardinals starting pitcher Jae Gooder. The first time up to bat for the Cardinals they batted through the order, with five runs being scored. Addie Gruver, Jae Gooder, Sarah LeBere, Jacey Turman and Alex Rasmussen all scored for the Cardinals. 

The Bulldogs were able to respond in the top of the second with a game tying triple to make it five all. The Cardinals came up to bat and 15 batters later it was 16-5 Chadron in the lead. Rassmussen led off the bottom of the third with Chadron needing one run to end the game. A base hit, walk and wild pitch allowed Rasmussen to score, giving the Cardinals the 17-5 win.

Rasmussen went 1-2 with three runs, Gruver was 0-1 with three walks and three runs. LeBere was 2-2 with two doubles and Turnamn was 1-2 with a triple

Jae Gooder was the winning pitcher for the Cardinals pitching all three innings allowing three hits with five runs, one earned, four walks and four strikeouts.

Chadron had 17 runs on five hits with three errors while Alliance had five runs on three hits and 12 errors.
