City Councilman Miles Bannan tendered his resignation from the Chadron City Council
Thursday night in the final meeting of the fiscal year.

Bannan said he accepted a promotion with the U.S. Postal Service and will be moving to
Lincoln. His new job begins Monday.

โ€œItโ€™ been a whirlwind of a week,โ€ he said. โ€œIt was a hard decision to make. Iโ€™ve loved serving the city, and Iโ€™ve loved my time here.โ€

Bannan was elected in 2014 as a write-in candidate with John Coates and Mark Werner, as they ran as Team Chadron. He chose not to run for re-election this cycle, so his seat will be vacant until a new council member takes over in December unless the council chooses to appoint a replacement for the four October and November meetings.

Bannan said he is proud of the improvements to the budget process made during his decade of service, adding that the city faced a few years of tight budgets that didnโ€™t allow for raises or many capital improvements.

โ€œI feel good about this yearโ€™s budget,โ€ Bannan said, adding that it includes capital projects.
The completion of the Main and First Street projects and the progress on the Downtown Plaza are also projects heโ€™s pleased to have seen move forward.
