Richard Lee Roy was born on August 1, 1967 in Pine Ridge, SD to Maurice Roy, Jr. and Eileen New Holy. Richard made his journey to the Spirit World on September 26, 2024 at the Pine Ridge I.H.S. Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD.
Richard is survived by his son, Rain Ortega; grandchildren, Kashus Ortega and Javontae Bianas; hunka mother, Marlene Rouillard; siblings, Trudine Moves Camp, TaCangleska Nunpa Moves Camp, TaSagye Wakan Moves Camp, Andrea Moves Camp, Hannah Moves Camp, TaSina Tanka Moves Camp and T Move Camp; aunts, Nancy Marshall, Judy and Trudy New Holy, Helen Jamison-Richards, Saleena Janis-Goings, Cherish Janis, and Melissa Janis; uncle, Kevin Merrival; and numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Roy, Jr. and Eileen New Holy; brother, John Moves Camp; maternal grandparents, Ambrose and Keva New Holy; paternal grandparents, Maurice B. Roy, Sr. and Alene Janis; uncle, Lucian Jamison; aunts, Melissa Roy-Bernal and Reverend Sharon Arrowchis; nephews, Racen Iron Horse and Roan Iron Horse; cousins, Dennis and Lucian Janis; and step-father, Samuel Moves Camp.
Pallbearers will be Andy Her Many Horses, James Bear Robe, Gwen, Delayne Blacksmith, Robert Ten Fingers, Alvin Janis, and Kevin Merrival.
