Elizabeth Ann Iron Shell was born on September 26, 1977 in Pine Ridge, SD to Anthony Iron Shell and Wilma Returns From Scout. Elizabeth made her journey to the Spirit World on September 26, 2024 at her home in Mission, SD. 

Elizabeth was a very strong woman. She loved her children very much. She was very talented. She loved to bead and make earrings and peyote stitch bracelets. She loved to wake up early in the mornings and say her prayers for the day for all of her loved ones. She loved to make fry bread, she made some of the best! She enjoyed her scary movies and crime t.v. shows while she did her arts and crafts.

She was a member of the Native American Church and attended Sundance and sweat ceremonies. She was a God fearing woman who saw the beauty in the ugly. She was a resilient Lakota Winyan. She loved her people and helped many throughout her life. She was a very loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who met and got the chance to know this gorgeous soul.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Vera Never Misses A Shot, Kaulauna Iron Shell, Lexy Poorman and Wakiya Iron Shell; grandchildren, Lucas W. Young, Anthony C. Iron Shell and Judiette R. Iron Shell; mother, Wilma Returns From Scout; sisters, Kelly Benson, Tammy Iron Shell and Sheila Returns From Scout; aunt, Gina Eagle Elk and Orla Iron Shell; cousin, Elizabeth Roubideaux; nieces/nephew, Tanisha Roubideaux, Renea Returns From Scout, Mikaela Benson, Emiliah Bob Tail Bear and Mason Benson; and best friends, Monica Spracklen, Rachel Bailey, Carla Oliver, Robin Star Boy, Amber Sky, Marlene Leighton, Stephanie Big Crow, and John Hindman.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her little brother, Michael Benson; father, Anthony Charles Iron Shell; aunt, Beatrice Iron Shell; grandmother, Ella Iron Shell; grandfather, Joseph Returns From Scout; great grandmother, Mary Marion Catches; and paternal great grandparents, Ernest & Bessie Eagle Elk; and Libby Coleman.

Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 4:00 PM CST, Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the Uppercut Meat Community Building in Uppercut Meat, SD with Native American Church Prayer Devotion at 7:00 PM CST

Funeral Services: 10:00 AM CST, Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the Uppercut Meat Community Building in Uppercut Meat, SD

Officiating: To Be Announced

Traditional Lakota Services: Kirk Fool Bull

Burial Services: To Be Held At A Later Date
