The Chadron Cardinals hosted the Gordon-Rushville Mustangs Tuesday Night for volleyball and took care of business with a three set sweep, 25-14. 25-17, 25-10 to get their first home win of the season.
The Cardinals came out hitting hot after Gordon-Rushville took them to five sets earlier this year and dominated the first set 25-14. The Mustangs got their game going in the second set but the Cardinals took over late, winning the third set 25-10.
Paige Slingsby led the Cardinals with 10 kills while hitting .333, Beau Behrends had eight kills while hitting .615 and Jove Griese had nine kills, hitting .500.
The Cardinals as a team hit .317, with 39 kills. Serving wise Behrends and Sophie Watson had three aces each.
The Cardinals are now 9-11 and have the Twin Cities invite coming up on Friday and Saturday. Joining Chadron in that tournament is Adams Central, Alliance, Burns WY, Chase County, Grand Island Northwest, Gering, McCook, Mitchell, North Platte, Ogallala, Rapid City Stevens, Scottsbluff, Sidney, St. Thomas More (SD), Torrington (WY).
