The Colorado Rockies wrapped up their season this past Sunday when they played the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Rockeis finished with a 67-101 record to finish their second straight 100+ loss season.
The Rockies began their season in Arizona, losing to the Diamondbacks 16-1 and things did not get much better from there as they lost six of their first seven games. The Rockies did not win back to back games until the second week of May when they won seven straight games. That streak included sweeps of the defending World Champions and 2024 NLDS team San Diego.
The Rockies only won three series in the first half of the season with Texas, San Diego and a 2-1 series win over Kansas City being it. The Rockies did split a four game series with the St. Louis Cardinals in early June but finished with a 27 and 54 record in the first half of the regular season.
The second half of the season the Rockies did not fare much better but it wasn’t as dramatic as the first half with the longest losing streak being five games and the longest winning streak being three games. The Rockies did win eight series in the second half of the season while splitting one four game series.
During the final two weeks of the season Colorado went 4-9 and lost five of their last six games to finish with 101 losses and 67 wins.
The Rockies as a team hit .242 with 179 home runs while the pitching staff finished with a 5.48 ERA which placed them last in Major League Baseball.
There were a few bright spots on the team with Ezequiel Tovar setting career highs in home runs, runs scored, RBI’s and batting average while Brenton Doyle also had his best year yet.
The Rockies will retain most of their roster with Daniel Bard, Jacob Stallings both free agents and the retirement of 14 year Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon.
The Rockies will begin next season at their Spring Training home in Scottsdale, Arizona on February 21st with the Rockies in Tampa bay for Opening Day on March 27th.
