A Pringle man has been arrested on felony arson charges related to nine separate wild land and structure fires that have recently occurred in Custer County
Jeremiah James Strange 31, was arrested Thursday. The fires occurred between August 28th and September 30th in various locations throughout Custer County.
Attorney General Marty Jackley said the fires caused significant property damage and placed people at risk.
The fires involved included the Lime Kiln fire, the Carrol Creek fire, the 313 fire, Pringle Cemetery fire, Watershed fire, 260 Palmer fire, Shirt Fire, Bowman fire and the 257 Palmer Street fire.
South Dakota’s Division of Criminal Investigation and the Custer County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation.
Strange is being held in the Pennington County Jail and his initial court appearance is pending
