Though Sioux County found the end zone first, the Arthur County Wolves outlasted them and handed the Warriors a 52-18 Homecoming loss Friday.

The Warriorsโ€™ offense sparked immediately, as quarterback Baxter Reece returned the first kick-off of the game for 76 yards and a touchdown. The defense took the field and achieved a three and out, and it was mid-way through the first quarter before Arthur was able to score. The Wolves took an 8-6 lead after making the point-after attempt. Sioux County responded two minutes later with a 12-yard touchdown run by Jack Hunter and then recovered the onside kick. They were unable to capitalize on that, however, and Kegan Allen scored once more for the Wolves before the quarter ended for a 16-12 Arthur County advantage.

The Wolves extended their lead with two unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter, one on a 13-yard catch by Kane Delatour and one on a three-yard scramble by Reese Swanson.

After a break, the Sioux County defense stood strong and halted an Arthur County march one yard from the goal line. Reece got Sioux County on the board for the final time with four minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Wolves answered two minutes later on a 19-yard catch by Allen, but Sioux Countyโ€™s Logan Monroe blocked the point-after attempt to make it 36-18.

Sioux County opened the fourth quarter with a penalty-assisted drive that put them just short of the goal line when they fumbled the ball away. Arthur County got a 20-yard touchdown run from Grady Gorwill with three minutes left and Jaycen Hanna intercepted Sioux County on the next series to set up another Gorwill touchdown before the clock ran out.
