Betty June Patton was born on June 1, 1939 in Gordon, NE to Benjamin Pourier and Emma Montileaux. Betty made her journey to the Spirit World on October 19, 2024 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
Betty was raised by Lenny & Emily Pourier in Kyle, SD and attended Pine Ridge High School and graduated in 1959 with the light of her life, Paul Patton. From the marriage they had three sons, Richard Dean, Kenneth Wade, and Calvin Boyd. Betty was employed in various positions with the Oglala Sioux Tribe. Betty moved to Rapid City and was employed with S.C.I. for 30 years and also worked at the Rapid City dog tracks. Betty volunteered as a Foster Grandparent with the Rapid City School District where she received numerous accreditations related to her commitment with the students.
Betty loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was especially proud of her three sons, whom she loved dearly. People gravitated to Betty because she had a kind heart and was willing to help anyway she could if they needed it. Betty will be missed but never forgotten.
Betty is survived by her sons, Richard (Alfreda) Dean Patton, Sr. and Kenneth Wade Patton; sister-in-law, Estelle Goings; brother-in-law, Douglas Patton, Sr.; grandchildren, Heather (Tom) Patton & Family, Richard (Sara) Patton, Jr. & Family, Dorothy Inez Patton & Family, Shawnna Kaye Patton & Family, Raelee Leona Patton & Family, Kateri Inez Patton & Family, Shawn (Brandy) Jumping Eagle-Patton & Family, Selena Thomasina Jo Patton & Family, Christana LaBelle Patton & Family; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Brenda Curnutt of Irrigon, OR, Nora Taylor of Spokane, WA, and Eleanor Pourier of Irrigon, OR; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her spouse, Paul F. Patton; son, Calvin Boyd “Sonny” Patton; grandson, Stephan Lyle Patton; great grandson, Stephan Paul Patton; parents, Benjamin Pourier and Emma Montileaux; sisters, Marilyn Pourier and Roberta Chivington; brothers, Maynard Pourier and Roger Pourier; and her special friend, Glory Brewer.
Pallbearers will be Richard Dean Patton, Jr., Shawn Jumping Eagle-Patton, Richard Dean Patton III, Jesse Dean Red Hawk, Lyle Wayne Patton, Douglas B. Patton, Calvin Dean Patton, Paul Wade Patton-Steele, Wyatt Dean Reddy, Theo Boyd Ace Patton, Caleb Kerbough, and Joseph Brown.
