Oliver Paul Janis, Jr. was born on November 22, 1938 in Pine Ridge, SD to Oliver Charles Janis and Gladys Spotted Bear-Bissonette. Oliver made his journey to the Spirit World on October 14, 2024 in Kyle, SD.
Oliver is survived by his significant other, Bonita Blue Legs; daughters, Olive, Rose & Irene Janis; step-daughters, Joyce Bongo, & Jessica Black Hawk; sons, Ivan Janis, Tom Janis, Wanli Janis, Jacob Janis, Ronnie Janis, and Tim Caffrey; step-sons, Roy Blue Legs, Taylor Bongo, and Wade Robideau; aunt, Mary Merrival; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Oliver was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Janis, Sr.; mother, Gladys Spotted Bear-Bissonette; sister, Doris Janis; brothers, Calvin Janis, Kenneth Janis, and Tom Allen; cousin, Hobart Spotted Bear; sons, Dennis Janis, Lucian Janis, and David Janis; daughter, Terri Mousseau; and step-daughter, Jackie Black Hawk.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Eagle Staff, Ron “Beef” Randall, John May, Tim Dix, Travis Goings, Travis Grenstiner, Matt Mushitz, and Frank Rogers, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives too many to mention.
Wake Services: Two night wake services starting at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 25, 2024 at the TNT Center in Wanblee, SD with evening services starting each night at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Services: 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 27, 2024 at the TNT Center in Wanblee, SD
