Cardinals Volleyball Sees Season End

Loading

The beginning of the season is always filled with hope and anticipation, the end of the season is filled with sadness of another year gone by, seniors who have played their last match. That was the case for the Chadron Cardinals volleyball team Monday night as they saw their season end with a 3-0 win by Chase County in the semi finals of the C1-10 sub district tournament.

The Cardinals opened up the tournament as the four seed against the five seed Mitchell. The Cardinals came out firing, dominating the first set with a 25-13 win, they carried that momentum into the second set with a 25-15 win. Then finished off the match with a 25-20 third set to sweep past Mitchell. Junior Paige Slingsby led the team with eight kills. The team ended with 33 kills, hitting .270.

That performance put them in a semi-final match with the host Chase County. The Cardinals were competitive but fell in straight sets 25-16, 25-21, 25-15 to see their season end. The Cardinals finished the season at 19-19 while winning seven out of their last eight matches.

The Cardinals will return all but senior Kiera Hagg next season with Hagg being the lone senior playing their final match last night.
