Tanya Noleen White Butterfly was born on June 19, 1982 in Pine Ridge, SD to Vivian White Butterfly-Broken Leg and Martin Blacktail Deer, Sr. Tanya made her journey to the Spirit World on October 19, 2024 near Manderson, SD.
Tanya is survived by her children, Austin White Butterfly, Eternity Red Starr, Harmony Red Starr; grandchildren, Enzo Red Starr, Kinsley White Butterfly, and Jordyn White Butterfly; mother, Vivian White Butterfly-Broken Leg; niece, Cary White Butterfly; sisters, Martina, Mary, & Lucy Blacktail Deer, Carla Sleeping Bear, and Karen Brown Bull; brothers, Franklin, Elroy, Brian, Martin, Jr., & Steven Blacktail Deer, and John & Alvin Little Moon; and special friend, Chaskay Bear Eagle.
Tanya was preceded in death by her father, Martin Blacktail Deer, Sr.; grandparents, Andrew Blacktail Deer & Flora Looks Twice, and Roy & Pauline Young Bull Bear-White Butterfly & Benjamin White Butterfly; great grandmothers, Victoria Fire Thunder, Ollie White Butterfly, Barbara, Mary Bull Bear, Clara Charging Crow, & Florida Jealous; brothers, Ivan White Butterfly, Sr., James Dean, Alton Blacktail Deer, Sr., Calvin Little Moon, & Fred Brown Bull; sister, Violet Yankton; cousin, Pauline White Butterfly, Jasmine Pino, & Benjamin Janis III; nieces, Gracie Thunder Hawk & Ashton Provost; and nephew Tawapaha He Luta White Butterfly.
