The Class D2-12 sub-district tournament brought four teams along Highway 20 to Hay Springs with the winner to move on to the district finals. Mondayโs action saw Hay Springs sweep Cody-Kilgore and Crawford sweep Sioux County.
During the first match which featured the number one seed Hay Springs Hawks playing the four seed Cody-Kilgore Cowgirls. The Hawks dominated the first set 25-8, before winning the second set 25-11. The Cowgirls were able to keep it close in the third set but the Hawks won 25-20. The second match of the day saw the second seed Crawford Rams sweep the third seed Sioux County Warriors. The Rams took the first set 25-14, then made it 2-0 by winning the second set 25-17. The Warriors with their season on the line fell in the third set 25-15. This set up a sub-district final between Hay Springs and Crawford on Tuesday in Hay Springs.
Tuesday saw a sub-district final between the one seed Hay Springs Hawks and two seed Crawford Rams. The match was close throughout but Hay Springs made it a clean sweep of the tournament winning 25-21,25-16, 25-19 over the Rams to win the Class D2-12 sub-district title.
The Hawks will move to a district final with an opponent/location to be announced Thursday morning.
