The last time the Chadron Cardinals won a playoff game was in 2014. It was a cold, blustery day in which Chadron won 6-0 over Ogallala. The last time the Chadron Cardinals hosted a playoff game was in 2021 when they fell to Battle Creek 28-20. Both of those changed last night as the Cardinals hosted Lincoln Christian and won 42-18.
The Cardinals got the ball first and marched right down the field scoring off a Jayce Hoffman five yard touchdown run. Lincoln Christian went three and out on their first possession but scored after successfully running a fake punt. From then on it was the Quinn Bailey experience as he scored on all but one possession the rest of the way.
The Cardinals ended up taking a 22-12 lead into the halftime break, the difference in the first half being possession totals and two point conversions as Chadron went 2-3 on two point conversions while Lincoln Christian went 0-2.
The teams traded touchdowns with Lincoln Christian hitting their second passing touchdown. The next possession Bailey had a 68 yard TD run that was called back due to holding, two plays later he ran right back in from 55 yards out to make it 28-18 Cardinals.
Bailey added a pair of nine yard touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to finish off the 42-18 win over Lincoln Christian. The Cardinals will play at Sidney on Friday, November 8th with a kickoff time at 4pm.
Chadron finished with 376 total yards, 326 rushing with 50 passing. Bailey finished with 311 yards on 38 carries with 5 touchdowns.
