Two Arrested in Thanksgiving Assault in Scottsbluff

Aย Thanksgiving night disturbance led to the arrest of two people in the 2000 block of Ave. F in Scottsbluff according to News Channel Nebraska.ย 

According to the Scottsbluff Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:20 p.m. Thursday after witnesses reported seeing a man with a bleeding head injury outside a residence. Upon arrival, officers observed the man exiting 2006 Avenue F with a wound on the top of his head.

Witnesses identified a suspect who had fled the scene in a tan SUV. Authorities broadcasted the vehicle description to area law enforcement and the SUV was later located at 755 M Street in Gering. Investigators secured the property while continuing to collect evidence at the Scottsbluff scene.

Security footage revealed the victim had been assaulted with the handle of a large hunting knife during a physical altercation. A search warrant was obtained and executed at 755 ยฝ M Street, resulting in the arrest of Codie Applegate, 34, of Scottsbluff.

Applegate faces multiple charges, including second-degree assault, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, terroristic threats, obstruction and child abuse.

A second suspect, Angela Dreher, 43, of Gering, was also arrested on charges of obstruction and child abuse.

The victim was treated and released from Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

The Scottsbluff Police Department was assisted by the Gering Police Department, Scotts Bluff County Sheriffโ€™s Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Gering Fire Department and Regional West Ambulance Services.
