2025 Motorized Trail Permits Currently Unavailable for Purchase

Loading

2025 Motorized Trail Permits for riding on Black Hills National Forest motorized trails are not available for purchase yet and are scheduled to arrive in January 2025.

Since the permits are currently unavailable, the permit requirement for riding Black Hills National Forest motorized trails in 2025 will be waived until the permits arrive. The public will be notified when the 2025 permits have arrived and are available for purchase.

Riders need to be aware that permits for riding on trails in South Dakota are not valid in Wyoming. The State of Wyoming has its own motorized trail permit system.

Seasonal closures remain in effect through mid-May, conditions permitting. Please remember that even if a road or trail is open, driving on soft surfaces or where rutting has been observed should be avoided until drier conditions return.

Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUMs) are the official map for designating all roads, trails, and areas available for public motorized travel on the Black Hills National Forest. To help prevent resource damage and protect private property, motorized vehicle operators should not rely on any other map when operating a motorized vehicle on the Forest.
