The Chadron Cardinals girls wrestling team had a busy weekend with tournaments at Valentine on Friday and Pierce on Saturday. It was busy but an extremely successful weekend with team titles won in both tournaments to extend the run to three straight tournament team championships.
The Cardinals began the trek down Highway 20 on Friday in the Valentine Invite. The Cardinals dominated the team scoring, winning by 35.5 points over second place Broken Bow. All eight wrestlers who competed placed with three taking first place hardware. Josie Werner went 2-0 to take first at 105, Bristol Prado won the 125 pound class, and Addison Deers won the 155 pound class. Adday Tewahade got second at 145, Lailee Smith was third at 100, Taille Williamson won third at 110, along with Vivian Golembiewski at 170. Abigail Bower got fourth at 115, and Graycen OโDonnel brought home fifth at 140.
The Cardinals then headed east to Pierce for the Pierce invite on Saturday. The team race came down to the final rounds with Chadron holding on to win by one and a half points over Schuyler to win their third straight team title. The Cardinals for the first time this year did not win any individual titles but did have three girls finish in second place. Josie Werner got second in the 105 pound class, Bristol Prado joined her in second at 125 along with Vivian Golembiewski at 170. Taylee Williamson was third at 110, Adday Tewahade was also third at 145 along with Addison Diers at 155. Lailee Smith finished fourth at 100 pounds, Abigail Bower was sixth at 115 and Graycen OโDonnell went 1-2 at 140.
The Cardinals girls will now have almost two weeks off before welcoming Gering to town for a dual on January 4th.
