The Solid Waste Agency of Northwest Nebraska (SWANN) began burning the brush pit beginning early this (Jan 7th) morning at the Chadron Transfer Station. However, the brush pit will only be lit under favorable weather conditions, which could burn for several days. This allows for SWANN to make room for future incoming brush, limbs and trees.
They remind the public that this is not trash and is strictly dried brush being burned. Appropriate burn permits were obtained through the Chadron Fire Department to proceed with this effort.
