Clinton Ray Tiden, Jr. was born on August 13, 1992 in Sidney, Nebraska to Clinton and Dawn (Palmer) Tiden. He was raised in Sidney, graduating from Sidney High School in 2011 and was a proud member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. He also spent time living in North Platte and Gothenburg where he made good friends. Following his time in Nebraska, he moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota where he resided before moving to Rapid City to participate in services with Black Hills Works. Clinton moved into the St Cloud Apartments in 2015 and lived there until November of 2024 when he moved to West Omaha Apartments.
Clintonโs greatest joy in life was spending time with his friends, and friends he considered family, within Black Hills Works. He was always ready to greet people with a smile, a fist bump, or a big bear hug. He was a protector at heart and was always willing to help. He enjoyed being on the go and out of the house as much as possible. Some of Clintonโs greatest achievements were participating in multiple Special Olympic events. He especially liked bowling, bocce, basketball, and track and field. He was a fierce competitor and always made sure everyone knew he was there to compete. He was so proud to display the numerous medals he earned over the years. He was a good teammate and cheerleader for every participant. The smiles that Special Olympics elicited were second to none. The dancing feet, clapping hands, and crooked smile were a sure sign that he was enjoying life to the fullest.
Clintonโs many years living at St Cloud Apartments yielded some of his greatest friendships. He enjoyed spending time out in the community, attending Summer Nights, the Central States Fair, various sporting events, shopping, and going to church. Clinton was an active member of Fountain Springs Church and was so proud to say that he was baptized and showing people Jesus. He had close relationships with his support staff, working with them to hone in his skills to live as independently as possible. Clinton was proud of his most recent accomplishment of graduating from the Safe Boundaries class, a six-month commitment that he took very seriously, attending classes weekly. Clinton was always proud, as were his staff, of any strides he made to master a new skill โ one of the most important being wearing socks every day! Those that knew
Clinton knew this was a monumental accomplishment! Clinton moved to West Omaha apartments to continue gaining independence, working towards his ultimate goal of living independently in the community at the time of his death.
Clintonโs absence will be felt across all environments within Black Hills Works. The stories and memories are endless, as the impact he made on others was something that wonโt soon be forgotten. He leaves a legacy of laughter for all of us.
Clinton is survived by his dad, Clinton Tiden, Sr. of Hot Springs, SD; his mom, Dawn Sird, of Nebraska; his siblings, Tiara, Tillman, and Mickey; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by three sets of grandparents, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
