During the morning hours of January 16, 2025, the Chadron Police Department took a report that 28-year-old, Blaine Murphy took off walking near the 1200 block of West Highway 20.
The report indicated Murphy may be having some mental difficulties. Officers began searching for Murphy, but were not able to locate him in the area or around the Chadron community. Later in the afternoon, Murphy was reported as missing by the reporting party.
Update 3:00 PM– Murphy has now been confirmed to be found by the Chadron PD. Police Chief Rick Hickstein released the following statement shortly before 3PM on Friday:
“Mr. Murphy has been located safe and is no longer listed as a missing person. We would
like to thank everyone for all of the information they supplied which led to law
enforcement being able to locate him.”
