Minors Arrested in Stolen Vehicle Pursuit in Scottsbluff

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol, with assistance from the Scottsbluff Police Department and Scotts Bluff County Sheriffโ€™s Office, apprehended two minors following a pursuit in Scottsbluff.

Monday evening, NSP was alerted that Scottsbluff PD officers were looking for a vehicle that had been reported stolen. At approximately 10:10 p.m., a trooper attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, a Mercury Mariner. The driver accelerated and fled on residential streets in Scottsbluff. The trooper initiated a pursuit.

The vehicle continued to flee on residential streets, running through multiple stop signs. At the intersection of 14th Street and 4th Avenue, the vehicle failed to make a turn and struck a tree. Two occupants fled on foot, while a third occupant remained at the scene and was taken into custody without incident. The driver of the vehicle was located a short time later and taken into custody by the Scottsbluff Police Department.

The passenger was turned over to Scottsbluff PD officers in relation to their investigation. The driver was transported to Regional West Medical Center for medical clearance. Once cleared, the driver, a 15-year-old male, was cited for theft by receiving stolen property $5,000+, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, resisting arrest, minor in possession of alcohol, obstructing a peace officer, no operatorโ€™s license, and several traffic violations. He was turned over to juvenile probation.
