George Looks Twice

George Adolph Looks Twice was born on November 8, 1933 in Pine Ridge, SD to Leo Looks Twice and Lucy Black Elk.  George made his journey to the Spirit World on January 12, 2025 at his home near Oglala, SD.

George A. Looks Twice was born on November 8, 1933 in Pine Ridge, SD to Leo and Lucy (Black Elk) Looks Twice. George made his journey to the Spirit World peacefully on January 12, 2025 at his home in Oglala, SD. 

George Adolph Looks Twice was a Veteran serving in the Korean War from January 26, 1951 to April 28, 1955. He served South Korea from December, 1952 to August 1953. 

He served with the C&A Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Division. George earned the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, South Korean Service Medal. He was also endowed the United States South Korean War Service Medal and in 2011 was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Medal. In March, 2016 George became an โ€œAmbassador for Peaceโ€ and was given a Proclamation and Medal from the Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Republic of Korea. 

George also became a Commissioned Lay Minister for the Catholic Diocese at Our Lady of the Sioux in Oglala, SD in 2009 until he retired in 2020. And many thanks to the Catholic community of Our Lady of the Sioux in Oglala for the many years of camaraderie with Dad. 

George is survived by his son, Marty Chase Alone and his wife Lori of Custer, SD, daughters, Georgine Looks Twice, Oglala, SD, Annette Looks Twice, Albuquerque, NM and Iva Looks Twice of Rapid City, SD. He also shared his life with his sister Karen (Dave) Pourier, close relatives Roberta (Sam) Spencer, Virginia Black Elk, Nicholas Black Elk III, Carolyn Black Elk, Grandchildren, Timothy, Sean, Franklin Ghost, Kateri, Nicolette Looks Twice, Amy Looks Twice Jackson(Dave), Helen Cendrowski (Chris), Billy Chase Alone , Helen Heimscheid (Stefan), Yvonne Chase Alone, Nita Beth Looks Twice (Dominic Kave), Jackie, Shane, Lucetta Looks Twice

George was preceded by his parents, Leo and Lucy (Black Elk) Looks Twice, son, Evans Jude Looks Twice, daughter Sarah Jean Looks Twice, sister, Regina Norma Looks Twice and Carol Lois Looks Twice-Villarreal, Thomasina Ann Looks Twice. Grandsons, Erik Looks Twice and Dave Looks Twice and their sister Skye Looks Twice.

The Family of George Looks Twice would like to give a special thank you to the Hot Springs Veterans Home Based Primary Care program, Terry, MaKayla and all the personnel from the program that gave a good deal of their care and efforts to helping Dad. Mike and MaKayla of Sioux Funeral home for their gracious caretaking of our father George.

Wake Services: Two night wake service starting at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Wounded Knee District School in Manderson, SD with evening services starting at 6:00 PM each night.  

Rosary Services & Military Roll Call:ย  Rosary services will start at 6:00 PM, Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Wounded Knee District School followed by Military Roll Call.
