Wayne Cournoyer was born December 18, 1967, in Chicago, IL to Walter R. Cournoyer, Sr. and Claudia (Miller) Cournoyer. Wayne made his journey to the Spirit World on January 15, 2025 near Kyle, SD.
Wayne is survived by his significant other, Dawn Marie Janis; daughter, Lamya Blue Bird; parents, Walter R. Cournoyer, Sr. & Claudia Cournoyer; brothers, Walt Cournoyer, Jr. and Russell Cournoyer; brothers-in-law, Victor Janis, Olin Janis, Wendyll “Smokey” Smoke, Calvin Janis, and Payton Janis; sisters-in-law, Shawnna Janis and Shalene Janis; nephews, Justin Cournoyer, Walter Cournoyer III, Lante Swallow, Foster “Hoyce” Cournoyer, and Joseph Cournoyer; nieces, Ethleen Cournoyer, Renae Cournoyer, Martina Cournoyer, Teshay Cournoyer, and Rarity Cournoyer; grandchildren, Israel Cournoyer, Hazel Cournoyer, Aaron Eagle Bull, Jr., Gloriana Eagle Bull, Madison Hoffman, and Walter R. Cournoyer IV; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Foster “Boomer” Harold Cournoyer; paternal grandparents, Harold & Hazel (Flood) Cournoyer; maternal grandparents, William, Sr. & Martina (Medicine) Miller; and nephew, Gregory Cournoyer.
Pallbearers will be Walter “Yamni” Cournoyer III, Lante Swallow, Joseph Cournoyer, Robert Chase, Heath Ducheneaux, Justin Cournoyer, Aaron Eagle Bull, Sr., Foster “Hoyce” Cournoyer, Joseph Gilmore, Alton Adams, Lance Christensen, Sr., and Virgil “Chug” Two Eagle, Sr.
