Darrell Ulyessus Richards, Jr. was born on August 20, 1965 in Chicago, IL to Donna Mae Bull Bear and Darrell โ€œSonnyโ€ Richards, Sr.  Darrell was raised in Kyle, SD by his mother and his step-father, Martin Patrick Garnette.  Darrell, Jr. made his journey to the Spirit World on January 25, 2025 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Darrell is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Richards; children, Ariel (Ray) Richards, Annie Richards, Joshua (Rosie) Richards, Jared (Ariana) Richards, and Jayden (Dacey) Richards; grandchildren, Janisiya, Ambrose, Bracyn, Creedance, Ella, Jane, Amelia, and Forrest; siblings, Daphne (Robert) Richards-Cook, Desmond Richards, Martin “Marty” Garnette, Louella Garnette, Lena Garnette, and Prairie Rose (Reginald) Garnette, and sister/cousin, Sonia Garrett.

Darrell was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Mae (Bull Bear) Garnette; fathers, Darrell “Sonny” Richards Sr. and Martin Patrick Garnette; grandma, Sophie Grey Eagle Tail; grandpa, Moses Bull Bear; siblings, Gwenita Bull Bear and Duane Garnette; niece Toni Garnette; nephews, Hayden Garnette, Micheal Dubray, and Moses Dubray; aunt, Mary Bull Bear, and cousin, Brian Garrett.

Pallbearers will be Desmond Richards, Jr., Shane Richards, Shaun Richards, Michael Richards, Algin Young, Sr., Billy Gourd, Darwin Eagle Elk, Sheldon Garnette, Francis โ€œWillieโ€ Montileaux, and Reginald No Neck II.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Hernandez, Mary Punkin Pierce, Amanda Reddy, Francis “Babe” Montileaux, Gary Ferguson Sr., Todd Randall, Stanley Young Jr., Eddy Black Bear, Charlotte Red Willow, Richard Lamont, Ronnie Ferguson, Stephanie Richards, Donna Shae Garnette, Darrell Dean Richards, Alfred Richards, Reginald No Neck III, Jerome and Jesse No Neck, Martin Garnette, Lamont and Caleb Cook, Jodi Garnette, Alena Garnette, Loretta Ferguson, Dusty Richards, Samantha Garnette, Mary โ€œTudyโ€ Pierce, Debbie Nearing, Richard Pierce, and Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center staff.

Visitation Services: Visitation will be from 12:00 PM โ€“ 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD

Funeral Services:ย  2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall followed by Military Roll Call
