On Monday, February 3rd, 7th Street Dance Studio presented their check to Western Community Health Resources Respite Program.
7th Street Dance Studio has been committed to giving back to their community and were delighted to give their entire ticket sales from their 2024 Christmas recital, “Winter Wishes”, to this wonderful organization.
Western Community Health Resources Respite Program is a short break for family caregivers who are caring for someone with special needs. Many times, children with special needs are those who receive special education services at school or who are seeing a mental health provider. The respite program applies to all ages and all disabilities so if you are caring for an adult or elderly person who has special needs such as an intellectual disability or Alzheimer’s disease, please reach out. Respite funding can be used at Community Organizations who partner with us such as 7th Street Dance or by having an individual provider come in to watch the child. We have seen how valuable respite can be at a Community Organization. The child can do activities with their peers and the parent still gets that short break. We assist individuals in applying for state funding, most often through the Lifespan Respite Subsidy Program. For those who do not qualify, we have implemented a grant funded program. The funds received from 7th Street Dance will help those families who receive funding through their grant program.
Their little studio has raised just over $18,000 with their annual benefit Christmas recital since 2019. “I started this as my mission to teach my students the importance of sharing their talents and supporting their community” says Lori Davis, studio owner and artistic director. “Dance is so much more than steps. It’s commitment, accountability, confidence, working together and helping each other succeed. I am very proud of the work we do and I love our little studio with all my heart!”
7th Street Dance Studio will have their annual spring dance recital on April 12th at the PAC and would love to have you join us and support our dancers.
