Chadron Boys Wrestling Finishes Regular Season

The Chadron High boys wrestling team made a stop in Yoder, Wyoming Saturday to wrap up the regular season at the Southeast Duals. It was a great day for the Cardinals as they finished in second place, losing to Alliance in the championship match.

The Cardinals were in Pool C with Bridgeport and Wheatland WY for pool play. The Cardinals defeated Bridgeport 49-16 before getting past Wheatland 50-27 to advance to the championship bracket. Joining the Cardinals in the championship bracket was Alliance, Crawford, and Glenrock WY who both went 2-0 in their pools as well. 

The Cardinals matched up against Glenrock in the first semifinal while Alliance and Crawford wrestled against each other in the other. Chadron easily got past Glenrock 54-30 while Alliance beat Crawford 62-10 to set up a Highway 385 showdown in the finals. The Cardinals dominated the first half of the match to race out to a 35-0 lead. Alliance took control of the match in the back half to win the Southeast Duals with a 39-35 final.

Quinn Bailey at 157 pounds went undefeated at 4-0, along with Zane Cullers at 165, Bricen Wright at 190 and Fletcher Stewart at 285. Layne Davidson went 2-0 at 165. Colin McCoy at 106, Leo Golembiewski at 215 and Steven Smith at 285 went 3-1. Keigan Vanderhoef at 126, Carson Long at 132, Tayven Jenkins at 138 all went 2-2. Jayce Hoffman at 144 went 1-1 while Kael Bennnett at 150 and Max Brodrick at 190 went 1-3 for the Cardinals. 

During the tournament Zane Cullers joined Quinn Bailey as one of two current Cardinals to have 100 career wins. 

Next up for the Cardinals is the C-3 District Wrestling tournament which will be held at Summerland High School in Ewing with wrestling set to start at 8:30am mountain time on Saturday.
