A sentencing date has been scheduled for a Gordon teenager accused of killing her newborn baby. Chloe Coplen-Anderson is set to appear in court on April 24.

Back in August, Coplen-Anderson pleaded no contest to second-degree murder as part of a plea agreement. In exchange, charges of first-degree murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and intentional child abuse resulting in death were dropped.

In Nebraska, second-degree murder is a Class 1B felony, with a minimum sentence of 20 years in prison and a maximum of life.

According to court documents, on Nov. 6, 2023, Gordon police and EMTs responded to Coplen-Andersonโ€™s home after receiving a call about a juvenile giving birth to an infant who wasnโ€™t breathing.

The documents said that officers were met at the door by the teenโ€™s father, who claimed the baby was stillborn. However, upon entering the bedroom the girlโ€™s mother said her daughter had hurt the baby. The officer said that when he attempted to provide first aid, he found the baby had been stabbed several times.
