March Madness: Creighton, NMSU & Teddy Allen Pull Off Upsets

Trey Alexander hit the game winning runner in the middle of the lane with just over a minute left in overtime and 9th seeded Creighton upset #8 San Diego State 71-69 in the first round of the men’s NCAA Tournament on Thursday. The Bluejay win came at a price as center Ryan Kalkbrener left in overtime with an injured knee and won’t be available on Saturday.

Teddy Allen went off for 37 points and 12th seeded New Mexico State upset 5th seeded UConn 70-63.

13th seeded South Dakota State trailed Providence 60-57 with 29-seconds remaining, but the Friars closed the game on a 6-0 run for a 66-57 win.

Colorado State built a 14 point first half lead but the 6th seeded Rams faltered down the stretch 75-63 to #11 Michigan.
