Chadron Marks Start Of Mental Health Awareness Month

Loading

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Chadron is marking it with a special event tonight – the annual lighting of C-Hill in green with the Chadron Middle School Hope Squad leading the effort.

In the past, the volunteers have met at the Courthouse for a rally and then walked up to C-Hill, but spokesman Terri Haynes with the Chadron Public Schools says tonight will be a little different by starting on the hill at 5:00

Haynes says the walk will follow the lighting and have a different destination – city hall.

Haynes also recommends wearing lime-green today since it’s the color of mental health awareness.

Chadron Middle School is focusing on mental health awareness for this week and next.  Mindfulness Mondays have a short video in the morning while Taco Bout It Tuesdays offer lunchroom conversations and fun.

Warm Your Heart Wednesdays have the Hope Squad offering Chicken Soup for the Soul, wearing green is the focus of Get Your Green On Thursdays, while Fresh Air Fridays see the Hope Squad lead outdoor mental health awareness activities.
