The Chadron State College music department holds its free annual Holiday Concert tonight at 7:00 in the Memorial Hall Auditorium with special guests the CSC Magic City Dance Team.
The Concert Choir and the combined Wind Symphony/ Community Band will perform separately then join together to lead the audience in several Christmas carols.
In between the choir and band, the dance team will take the stage for a performance of its own.
Chadron State had a highly successful dance team for several years, but the number of dancers, which had already dropped, fell sharply after the pandemic.
The revival under the Magic City name has brought a near-record 15 members. It’s a mix of 8 members with no prior dance experience and 7 with between 9 and 16 years of dance.
The group performed at football and volleyball games this fall and has already performed at both men’s and women’s basketball games.
The Memorial Hall Main Gallery will be open before and after the concert for viewing of Yours, Mine, and Ours – an exhibit of works from the personal collections of CSC art faculty.
Works on display include those by former CSC art teachers Paul Pfrehm, Richard Bird, and Don Ruleaux.
Again, tonight’s Holiday Concert is free and open to the public starting at 7:00 in Memorial Hall.
