Noem Wants To Know If SD Investments Include Chinese Companies

Loading

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem wants a review of the state’s investments to determine if it has stakes in Chinese companies, and she’s given the state Investment Council 7 days to do it.

The Investment Council oversees a $19 billion dollar portfolio for the state’s pension and other trust funds

Noem, seen as a potential contender for the Republican nomination for president in two years, claims any state ties to China pose a national security threat.

Last week, she banned TikTok, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, from being used on state-owned devices.
